Cornelius Carr (John Carr) is from Middlesbrough, England and is a former professional boxer who won the British Supermiddleweight title in 1994 and the WBF World middleweight title in 1999. During his boxing career he amassed 38 fights, and won 34. Cornelius started boxing at 11 years old at Grangetown Amateur Boxing Club trained by his coach, mentor, and surrogate father Marty Turner. Marty saw something special in young John 'Cornelius' Carr, and prophecised that young John Cornelius would become a champion boxer one day.

John Cornelius adopted his father's name, Cornelius, when he turned professional at 18 years old under the management of boxing promoter Frank Warren. His childhood dream was to become a professional boxer and boxing champion.  He fought hard to fulfill his ambtion, and due to his determination, persistence, and gritty nature his dream, and Marty's prophecy of becoming a boxing champion came true.

Cornelius has invaluable knowledge and contacts that are vital to making this film with the authenticity that it needs to be a huge success. Cornelius has actually worked on films in the past, on the 1997 film The Boxer, starring Daniel Day Lewis, he helped choreograph some of the fight scenes in the film. Cornelius has also successfully completed a professional stunt and combat course, covering fight choreography, specialising in unarmed combat and boxing. Cornelius also enjoyed working with Morrissey on his music video 'Boxers' which he starred in, and helped to choreograph the boxing scenes.

Now fifty-five years old Cornelius is a Personal Trainer who established a popular boxing training gym in Swansea. Using state-of-the-art fitness equipment, he employs unique techniques to promote all-over fitness. He trains clients at all fitness levels, including celebrity actors and musicians. Cornelius recently won the Welsh Enterprise Award 2023 for the best local boxing trainer in South Wales. His two sons are boxers and he has in the past trained both of his sons for competitions.

Cornelius is excited about the film 'Cornelius' which is based on his life story, and hopes that his personal and professional struggles will inspire other people to believe in themselves and chase their dreams. He says, 'If I can make it and be successful, anyone can. I was persistent, hard-working, and committed to boxing. I just wouldn't give up.' Fortunately for me I was gifted with a fighting spirit.
